The Exhibit of the Future - a cutting edge, safe and fully engaging brand experience.

Whilst the current health crisis has forced brands to pivot towards digital, the power and importance of face-to-face connections remains as strong as ever.

It is well documented that the pandemic will leave a lasting impact on the attitudes and behaviour of consumers. As a result, we have taken the time to reimagine how a physical booth is designed and used.

Future thinking

There is a multitude of thinking and separate elements that go into the successful design of a Post-COVID-19 exhibit space: from spatial planning, customer journeys, structural architecture, technology and the presentation of content.

To design the booth of the future, we have asked ourselves a series of questions, for example:

  • How will customers feel and behave when physical exhibitions return?

  • How can the spatial design of a booth influence visitor behaviour and flow?

  • Are there new / better materials or production techniques available to sustain cleanliness and enhance air circulation?

  • How will traditional shared spaces such as meeting rooms and hospitality areas be reimagined to adhere to social distancing best practice?

  • How do we ensure safe interactions without negatively impacting on the visitor experience?

  • What role will immersive technology play in safely showcasing content and delivering customer engagement?

  • Can content be better optimized so that it can be shared across physical and digital experiences?

  • Can physical and virtual experiences be synchronized to provide brand consistency, visitor engagement and encourage cross-purpose functionality?

Intelligent Design

Rather than simply reacting to the current situation, our proposed design explores a hybrid world, which still has people and physical interactions at its heart.

The brand space adopts a circular demarcation system, creating a natural single direction flow, ample space and clear wayfinding.

The architecture creates a semi-encircled space that helps to regulate visitor numbers (either onto the booth or within on-booth areas) and controls access into or out of the environment, whilst also ensuring the exhibit is open, welcoming and adheres to envisaged venue guidelines.

Shared spaces are designed to be open and enable optimum air circulation. Where privacy is required, clever design solutions have been adopted from considered use of materials to movable dividers.

We use the very latest technology, adapting on-booth content to utilize touch-free or gesture-based interactions. Content is carefully curated and positioned around the space to encourage visitor movement and prevent bottlenecks.

Digital content is displayed on high definition screens, enabling existing digital content to be repurposed and shared.

The inclusion of an auditorium where guest speakers can present in person with a live two-way feed to the virtual experience. Likewise, virtual events/activities and audiences can be streamed onto the physical booth.

Beyond the show opening hours, consideration has also been given to ensuring the booth is clean and hygienic. Features such as UV lights are discretely located around high contact areas, which can be activated overnight to ensure surfaces are fully sanitized and safe.

Whilst only theoretical, the concept embraces the opportunity for enhanced visitor engagement and cross purpose functionality, whilst also addressing inevitable future commercial necessities.

The result demonstrates how strategically grounded and creatively executed design principles can provide imaginative solutions, in a world of social transformation and public concern.
