2020, we did it!

That’s a ‘wrap’ for the Ignition team, and what a year it’s been.

Below we’re looking back at just a few of the highlights in 2020, yes, there were many! But firstly, we’d just like to say how proud we are of the strength and resilience of our partners, clients, colleagues and the whole exhibitions and events industry.

We’ve narrowed it down to our top 5 highlights, but if you’d like to read more then head over to our blog where we’ve been sharing what matters all year.

  1. We were able to deliver live projects for two new clients in Q1. The first was at IMCAS for Galderma, who tasked us with bringing their ‘Empowering Individuality’ campaign to life and promote their new global portfolio campaign.

A few weeks later we were supporting LafargeHolcim with their long-awaited return to the exhibition show floor. This was our first project within the construction industry, and we’re looking forward to ‘building’ on our success at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, where the project is a finalist at the EXHIBITOR Magazine's Eighth Annual Portable/Modular Awards.

  2. It seems like it was only yesterday when we received terrific news that we had been named as recipients of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. For us, this was a particularly special award. We’ve sought to do things differently – more responsibly, more thoughtfully, and with greater environmental care. To be amongst a select coveted few, we’re truly honoured.

  3. The pandemic has given our industry the opportunity to Pause for Purpose. So, on Global Exhibitions Day, we invited partners and clients to our webinar, hosted by Ignition’s CEO, Sam Rowe. Sam shared ideas and examples to inspire a new sustainable mindset for companies who take part in multiple exhibits and discussed innovative ways to help drive a new agenda for their future exhibitions programme. We recorded the webinar if you’d like to watch it back.

  4. Sam Rowe was also invited to take part in Business Game Changer Magazine’s unique radio-style podcast show. It’s the largest business podcast out there, with over 500,000 listeners tuning in each week from four continents to hear from Kizzi's Friday Game Changers. Sam shared Ignition’s unique business ethos – people, planet and then profit. You can listen back to the podcast on demand. Kizzi Nkwocha commented: “I think this is probably one of the most insightful and thought-provoking conversations we’ve had on the show.”

  5. We love the power of face to face events, however, the fruition of virtual events this year has given our industry an exciting transition to a hybrid future. We’ve fully embraced virtual. What was in the past not a necessity for our clients, is now an impressive digital offer. As our services have grown, so has our team. We welcomed Alex Saxon and Anton McCoy to Ignition to help us deliver innovative experiences, digitally, and like never before imagined.

We’re looking ahead to 2021 full of confidence in the future of exhibitions, events and experiences. A new ‘Phygital’ world will bridge the gap between live and virtual events with a true hybrid experience.
